Marie's Bio

Marie (vocal artist)

Marie's professional stage career has spanned more than 25 years and includes leading roles such as Eliza Doolittle in "My Fair Lady," Maria in "Sound of Music," Julie Jordan in "Carousel," Maria in "West Side Story," Bella in "Lost In Yonkers" and Laurie in "Oklahoma."

Following a national Broadway tour of the musical "Annie," directed by the original lyricist, Martin Charnin, in which she played Grace Farrell, she relocated to New York City where she earned principle roles in several Off-Broadway productions including the very well-received new musical "Berlin."

Marie credits part of her NYC success to her outstanding and much-sought-after voice coach Mark Planner, himself a Broadway singer and actor who works strictly on a referral basis. Mark has coached some of the finest vocalists in the city including actors who have starred in "Les Mis," "The Music Man" and many others on the Broadway stage.

Earlier in her career Marie spent several years performing as a production singer on leading cruise lines including the Norwegian Cruise Lines, Carnival Cruise Lines and the maiden voyage of the "Disney Wonder."

For the past several years, however, Marie has redirected her career to the performance of inspirational music, and with her husband Gordy Martin, now gives concerts throughout the country at religious events, conferences and seminars. Along with top musicians and arrangers in Nashville and Los Angeles, they have produced four CDs highlighting favorite Christian hymns and songs and have performed hundreds of concerts all over the country. Their latest CD entitled "Shelter" saw three radio singles hit Christian stations nationally and currently more than 75% of the album can still be heard playing on radio stations from Florida to Oregon. Their album was also honored in "Worship Leader Magazine" and "Youth Worker Magazine." Itunes, Amazon, CD Baby and many other top distributors carry Marie's music to fans all over the world.

One of Marie's most treasured performances was in 2009 when she was invited by Reverend Schuler's staff to be the featured vocalist on the internationally-televised "Hour of Power" at the Crystal Cathedral in Los Angeles. For those interested, this performance can still be viewed by going to Marie's web page, www.MarieBarlow.com

Marie is also a sought-after speaker at women's events as she focuses on helping and inspiring women who find themselves in abusive relationships. She has been interviewed regularly on many live national radio and television programs including "Focus on the Family," "Prime Time America" and a number of other Christian television shows.

Finally, aside from her professional career, Marie is dedicated to the rescue of abused and neglected animals. She recently adopted an older female German Shepherd who had been abandoned by her family in Florida, left tied to a dog house without food or water. Discovered weeks later by an animal rescue team, the sweet dog was almost beyond saving, but today she lives happily in Marie's home.
